In a move that could disrupt the consumer lending segment, e-commerce giant Flipkart is set to enter the financial services space, offering credit and insurance products to consumers and sellers on its platform. The Bengaluru-headquartered firm has begun the process of applying for a non-banking financial company (NBFC) licence, which will allow it to open lines of credit to its nearly 100 million customers and over 1,00,000 sellers. In time, the company will offer these services beyond its platform, taking on firms like Paytm and Bajaj Finserv.

Rahul Dravid has been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame along with former Australia captain Ricky Ponting and England batting great Claire Taylor. Dravid becomes the fifth Indian to receive the honour alongside Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Anil Kumble. After four failed attempts since March 2016, India’s service tax authorities have sold Vijay Mallya’s luxury jet for ₹34.8 crore to US-based Aviation Management Sales. The aircraft on auction was the Airbus A319 luxury jet, which Mallya used to fly across the world for business deals. The auction is a part of the government’s attempt to recover nearly ₹800 crore in dues that had accumulated on account of non-payment of service tax by Kingfisher Airlines.

Walmart is bringing together a bunch of companies at Flipkart to fight two common enemies: Amazon and Alibaba.
